Epiphany celebrating God’s Gift to all human kind -

Chalking of the Doors” God’s Blessing of our homes at the New year.

Blessing of homes at the New year is part of church tradition. With this rite we allow Christ to be a guest in our home, a listener to conversations, a guiding post in times of trouble and to be graciously thanked when life goes well. Chalking the door or the doorstep ( or any room) stamps the New Year and celebration of Epiphany. Chalk a natural element is an integral part of the earth in many countries, it is also the first writing implement for students, as teachers use it to impart learning for first graders.

The images are imprinted on our hearts as we view them daily , so even when the hieroglyphics fade we recall the signs, remember the meanings.

The suggested prayers by the family embraces all who live, or visit or work in the home.

May all who come to our home this year rejoice to find Christ living among us; and may we seek and serve in everyone we meet that same Jesus who is your Incarnate Word, now and forever.

Loving God bless this household. May we be blessed with health, goodness of heart, gentleness and abiding in your will. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Saviour Amen.”
