MUSIC AND WORSHIP AT ST. BARTS.

LAST FALL OUR CHURCH SECURED THE SERVICES OF A GIFTED ORGANIST CHARMAINE BACON TO ASSIST OUR CHOIR DIRECTOR JEANETTE JACKSON AND TOGETHER REVITALIZE THE CHOIR.

As you recall the relocation of our choir from the mezzanine floor to the rear of the chancel was the second priority of our extensive renovations in 2012-2013.

Last year juggling of the microphones was necessary to optimise the audio sounds but now it is just about perfect. Under the direction of these two musicians the choir has been revitalized. The confidence and spirit of the choir members is  very evident  with their renditions of various hymns often selecting  the less well known lyrics but doing this with flair and finesse.

Let me bring you up to speed on our new remarkable musician.

Originally  from  the west as in Russell, Manitoba, Charmaine  recently completed a Master of Music degree at the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music, University of Manitoba.

She has also studied music performance at the University of Toronto and  the prestigious Glenn Gould School of Music.

Charmaine is an active performer and enjoys taking part in a variety of ensembles and concerts. She   plays regularly with the Winnipeg Wind Ensemble and performs in her own recital series “Charmaine and Friends” at Fort Garry United Church. She is the pianist for the Silver Notes choir, sings with the Heartland Singers and of course is our organist at St. Bartholomew.

Charmaine is currently on staff at the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts as flute instructor. She maintains a private flute and piano studio in the Fort Garry neighbourhood.

She has taught at the University of Manitoba Preparatory Division, coached flute sections including those of the Manitoba Honour Bands, and has been on staff as Flute Choir director at the Canadian Mennonite University.

There  is great interaction Charmaine and Jeanette resulting in a more robust choir of praise, and the more frequent introduction of Anthems. Charmaine moves effortlessly from organ to piano during our 1030 am Sunday services

We have also been blessed with  frequent guest performances to enhance our worship on special Sundays (Easter) , Remembrance day service with flute and horn artistes.

Why not join us on a Sunday  very soon to readily experience  the thought provoking  sermons of Minister Lee as he brings the good news (gospel) to you and expands on its current  relevance?

Join in singing with our marvellous choir and musicians, and our joyous exhortation of Alleluia at the conclusion of the service to energize you for the ensuing week .
