Rev. Dr. Jane Barter




Dr. Jane Barter was  born in Europe, spent her formative years Nova Scotia, but has lived in the West, which includes Windsor Park for more than twenty years. She obtained her B.A.  (Dalhousie) , Masters Divinity (Atlantic School of Theology) and PhD. ( Un. of  Toronto [St. Michaels College]).


She was ordained in 2009 to the Diaconate, and became a priest in 2010.  A segment of her priestly externship occurred at St. Bartholomew under Canon Donna Joy. One of the events we fondly remembered at that time was the liturgical dance done by  the confirmants under the leadership of Jane ..  Welcome back Jane


Past assignments, as an  Honorary Assistant occurred  in several parishes in the Diocese, such as  St. Luke and St. Mary Magdalene. She currently serves as a Priest every other week  at St. Peter, Dynevor, and will be rotating  at St. Bartholomew every other week starting today March 11th 2018.  


Holding  a PhD in Theology, she teaches full time at The University of Winnipeg in the Department of Religion and Culture, where she specializes in Christian and Jewish thought and has authored three books,( Thinking Christ: Christology and Contemporary critics) in addition to several articles.


She has two children, Luc (18 -preparing for University); Sophie (17), and a Lhasa Apso cross named Scruffy (9). 


Jane enjoys listening to music, yoga,  reading, and exercises her creative interests (juices) with  cooking, painting, and writing.
